Standing in the way…

We treat our opinions like prized possessions, guarding them as if they define who we are. But at their core, they are just opinions—pieces of information we’ve absorbed, shaped by our experiences, biases, and the people we surround ourselves with.

In arguments, we don’t just defend our stance—we dig in, convinced that being right matters more than understanding. We see opposing opinions not as an opportunity to learn but as a threat to dismantle. And in that stubbornness, we leave no space for conversation, no room for nuance, no chance for anyone—including ourselves—to think beyond the walls we’ve built.

However, being firm in our opinions only holds value when it aligns with decency, justice, and fairness. When we refuse to budge, not because we stand for what’s right but because we fear losing face, we are not standing our ground—we are just standing in the way.
